Repair or replace?
Repair or replace? Start with the facts.
An aging system, repeated repairs or rooms that stay uncomfortable can make replacement worth considering. We assess the equipment and explain the repair and replacement options so you can decide what suits your space and plans.
Ask about current availability.
If your system has stopped cooling or heating, call us to arrange an assessment.
Start with a clear diagnosis.
We investigate what is causing the problem and explain the repair it needs. The assessment helps distinguish a fault that can be addressed with a repair from wider equipment concerns.
- The problem
- What is causing the loss of cooling or heating, and what work would address it?
- The equipment
- How is the rest of the system operating, and are there other signs of wear?
- The repair history
- Has the same problem returned, or have different repairs become more frequent?

Compare two complete paths.
The price of one repair and the price of new equipment do not describe the same scope. Ask what is included in each path, what remains unchanged, and what further work is known or uncertain.
- Repair
- Which problem will be addressed? What parts and work are included? What remains to be monitored or discussed?
- Replacement
- Which equipment is changing? What installation and related work are included? How was the system selected for the building?
- Your priorities
- How do your timing, budget, comfort concerns and plans for the property affect the choice?
Six months to decide on replacement.
For systems 9 years and older, you can choose a PAR repair and take six months to decide whether to replace the system with us. If you choose replacement within those six months, we apply the full cost of the original repair as a credit toward your new system.
- For systems 9 years and older
- Start with a PAR repair if that is the option you choose after the evaluation.
- Replace with PAR within six months
- The full original repair cost is credited toward your new system when you replace it with us within six months.
A free evaluation before complete replacement.
If you are considering a complete system replacement, we evaluate your existing system at no charge. We recommend getting at least three estimates so you can compare the equipment, installation scope and written terms.
When replacement is worth considering.
Older equipment that needs repeated repairs, struggles to keep rooms comfortable or uses more energy than before may be a candidate for replacement. Persistent humidity or uneven cooling also belongs in the assessment. We consider the diagnosis, equipment condition and your plans together when explaining the options.
What to share with our team.
Tell us what has changed, how long it has been happening and what you would like to improve. Existing service records or an estimate can help if you have them. Our team will investigate the equipment and explain the next steps.
Free portable cooling while we arrange the work.
If we cannot repair or replace your system the same day, we provide portable A/C at no charge to help cool a room while we arrange the work. We coordinate the unit and its placement with you.
Your questions
Questions, answered.
Is there an age when an HVAC system has to be replaced?
Age alone does not decide it. An older system with one repairable fault may still be worth repairing, while a system with repeated failures or wider equipment problems may justify replacement. Consider the diagnosis, likely repair work, comfort and your plans together.
If the same problem comes back, does that mean the last repair was wrong?
Not necessarily. Similar symptoms can have different causes, or another part of the system may now need attention. Share the earlier diagnosis, work completed and when the symptom returned. That history helps the technician investigate rather than simply repeat the previous repair.
Should I replace the system to fix one hot room?
First find out why that room is uncomfortable. Ductwork, airflow and the room’s cooling needs can matter alongside the equipment. Replacing the main system without addressing the cause may leave the same comfort problem.
What should I compare besides the repair price and replacement price?
Compare what each option changes, what remains, any written terms that apply to equipment or work, and known related work. Then consider timing, your budget and how long you plan to use the property. The smaller upfront total is only one part of the decision.
Can I apply a repair bill toward a new HVAC system?
For systems 9 years and older, you can choose a PAR repair and take six months to decide whether to replace the system with us. If you choose replacement within those six months, we apply the full cost of the original repair as a credit toward your new system.
Is the evaluation free if I am considering a complete replacement?
